Today, I met a redneck on the train. He said he was from LA. I was very suprised by that, because I grew up in LA, so I asked him what part, as I was from North Hollywood. He said, "No, that's 'Lower Alabama'." Ah. I see.

It's not that I think the city of my birth has exclusive rights to those initials. A good case can be made for the state of Louisana, for example. I believe they were even there first. But, lower Alabama? I'm sorry, am I the only one who thinks that's retarded?
